The Emerson Custom 550K Series SG Prewired Kit is a premium 50s-style wiring harness designed specifically for USA Gibson SG models. Handwired in the USA with Emerson's Premier Pro potentiometers, Bumblebee Paper in Oil capacitors and vintage-spec buss wire, this kit delivers the clarity, punch and dynamic response associated with great vintage SG tone. Each harness is built by hand with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring exceptional performance and long-term reliability.
Wired 50s style, the harness provides stronger, tighter and more transparent tone with far less treble loss when rolling back the volume. Both volume and tone controls respond more smoothly, without hot spots, and interact with each other in a musical way reminiscent of classic tweed-era amps. Rolling back the volume cleans up an overdriven amp without losing presence in the mix, making this wiring layout a favourite among players seeking authentic vintage behaviour.
This SG kit includes 550k Premier Pro split shaft pots for maximum clarity and articulation, a Switchcraft J11 jack with a 3/8 inch bushing, and a Centralab right-angle 3-way toggle switch with a deep threaded nut.

Installation Tips for Split Shaft Pots
US-spec split shaft pots are designed for USA-spec 24-spline push-on knobs. Some USA and import guitars use knobs that will not fit these shafts. If a knob feels too tight, gently crimp the top of the pot shaft together slightly before installation to avoid damaging the shaft. Emerson recommends taking your time during installation and contacting them if you have any questions.
