Tsakalis AudioWorks Room #40 | Marshall Plexi & JCM800 Amps In A Box
Marshall Mojo In A Box
You'd be remiss in thinking it a pipe dream but when Tsakalis set out to incorporate the iconic sounds of the PLEXI Super Lead (1959/1987) & Super Bass (1992) and the JMP & JCM800 (2203/2204) into the small form factor of a pedal, the ROOM #40 was born.
Handmade in Athens, Greece, this passionate team brought their love for the many Marshall amps that have crossed their workbench when designing the ROOM #40. Utilising JFET technology, the model makes use of 2 types of Marshall style circuits - one for Plexi (19) and one for JMP & JCM800 (22) - and an additional gain boost operated by a footswitch and tweaked by its own dedicated trimmer.
The master volume opens up the possibilities of cranking or cutting either of the pedal's two volume dials for their tonal influence whilst keeping the overall output just the right level. Along with its classic Marshall 3 band EQ, this Tsakalis creation hosts a versatile presence control so that no matter what you're plugging into, you can match your tone for each. To top off the sonic possibilities of this product is the Variac voltage control. Inspired by their "love for the late great Eddie Van Halen" who created its concept, this dial takes the pedal from 7.5V to 21V to achieve the legendary "brown-sound" of compression and sag in the power amp sections when they're pushed to the max.
