Fulltone Custom Shop Robin Trower | Overdrive
Exactly Like His Early 90s Full-Drive With Mods
Robin had favoured the Fulltone Full-Drive 2 since 1994 and in more recent time the OCD as well, switching between them depending which guitar he was using. In 2008 Michael Fuller sent him an overdrive built with him in mind. On the third revision they got it spot on and Robin has used it ever since.
In Robin's words:
"The RTO is the smoothest, most natural sounding overdrive I have ever used... but the fact that it enhances my guitar's character tone is what made me LOVE it!"

The RTO is a simple overdrive circuit utilising a JFET op-amp with no input buffer, resulting in excellent touch sensitivity and clean-up no matter what pickups or effect signal is fed into it. It gets its distortion via a combo of different diode types in the op-amp's feedback loop to achieve a natural sounding, slightly asymmetrical waveform.
Touch responsive, huge sounding, sustain for days... and crystal clear when the guitar's volume knob is reduced for great live dynamics. Being that Robin uses Fenders as well as Marshalls, it had to work well with both types... and it does. And Robin hits so hard that the front end of the pedal had to be able to handle those .012-.048 tuned-down strings. The RTO holds tight and smooth for Strat and Les Paul players alike.
