This Fender Custom Shop instrument was crafted by the now former Fender Master Builder, Levi Perry. During his time with the Custom Shop, Levi worked on many prestigious projects, such as the Limited Edition George Harrison Rocky Stratocaster, and the of course El Mocambo series of instruments.
Over the years, we’ve received countless Fender Custom Shop instruments crafted by Levi Perry. His attention to detail, craftsmanship, and unique vision have always led to some incredibly creative and inspiring guitars. We’ve long been massive fans of his work, and it didn’t take long for our customers to feel the same way. Levi has now moved on from the Fender Custom Shop to begin his own project “Gavilan Guitars”. This is a unique opportunity to pick up one of the last brand new Fender Custom Shop Levi Perry Masterbuilt instruments available.
The Levi Perry Masterbuilt '62 Stratocaster Heavy Relic is a showcase of Custom Shop artistry at its highest level. With a lightweight 2-piece alder body, nitrocellulose lacquer finish, and handwound '60/'63 pickups, it delivers the unmistakable tone and feel of a golden-era Strat, but with the playability and build quality of a modern masterpiece.
The Heavy Relic treatment is bold and expressive, with authentic wear patterns that evoke decades of stage use. The finish is thin, allowing the body to resonate freely and age naturally over time. The AAA rosewood fretboard, specially sorted for darkness and visual depth, sits atop a 60-style oval C neck with a 10.5" radius and 6100 jumbo frets, offering a fast, smooth playing surface that's perfect for expressive bends and fluid lead work.
Electronics are pure Custom Shop magic: a trio of handwound '60/'63 Strat pickups deliver glassy highs, vocal mids and tight lows, with vintage output and dynamic response. The 250K 10% taper split pots provide smooth control and tonal nuance, making this Strat as versatile as it is inspiring.
Masterbuilt guitars are envisioned start-to-finish by a single luthier with no shortcuts. Every contour, fret, solder joint and finish detail is shaped by hand, with obsessive attention to tone, feel and aesthetics. These are the most collectable and performance-ready guitars Fender offers, and each one reflects the personality and skill of its builder.
