Whilst visiting the 2026 NAMM show in Anaheim, John and the team attended the Fender Custom Shop’s annual Custom Shop event, where all attendees can bid on exclusive instruments built specifically for the NAMM show. These instruments always feature a unique spec that you don’t see every day.
This Fender Custom Shop 50s Stratocaster was built for NAMM 2026 by one of Fender’s most decorated and legendary Masterbuilders, Todd Krause. During his career as a Masterbuilder, Todd has worked with and built instruments for top artists like Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, and David Gilmour to name just a few. He’s one of the very best to ever hold the title of Masterbuilder.
This Stratocaster begins with a Roasted Ash body finished with a Cadillac Green nitrocellulose lacquer. By roasting the Ash body, it helps to crystalise any moisture within the wood which helps to increase stability and enhance the sustain of the guitar. As this guitar has an NOS finish, you will not find any kind of ageing or wear, it’s designed to look exactly how a genuine vintage Fender would have looked when it left the factory.
The neck is one of this guitars most unique and eye-catching features. It’s crafted from 5A Flame Maple and features incredible figuring across the entire neck. The medium tint finish really helps the figuring to pop and standout. It’s super comfortable to play thanks to the V neck shape, which was specifically built by Todd Krause. It measures .820” at the 1st fret, and .940” at the 12th fret. The Maple fingerboard features a 7.25” radius, 21 Jescar gold frets, 1.650” nut width, and Abalone dot inlays
This Strat is loaded with some of Fender’s most versatile pickups. You’ve got a set of handwound Fender Fat 50s pickups, which gives you some really authentic and inspiring tones. One really cool feature of this pickup set is the use of gold pole pieces, which really standout and look classy.
If you’re looking a Fender Custom Shop with a unique story and build specification, then you should 100% check this guitar out. We don’t think this will hang around long, don’t miss out!
