This Masterbuilt '61 Stratocaster is the work of Dennis Galuszka, one of the longest‑serving and most respected builders in the Fender Custom Shop. Dennis is known for his meticulous attention to detail, his deep understanding of vintage Fender feel, and his ability to create instruments that feel alive straight out of the case. His builds consistently show a level of nuance, resonance and personality that players associate with the very top tier of the Custom Shop. A Masterbuilt from Dennis is not just a premium guitar, it is a piece of individual craftsmanship.
Finished in Faded Fiesta Red with a beautifully executed Relic treatment, this Strat captures the look and feel of a well‑loved early 60s instrument. The alder body has an awesome nitro lacquer finish with authentic checking and texture, giving it a lived‑in character that only the Custom Shop can achieve. The neck carve is the 59 Esquire C shape, offering a rounded, comfortable feel that suits both vintage rhythm work and expressive lead playing. The AAA rosewood fingerboard is hand‑sorted for darkness, giving the guitar a rich, premium look and a smooth playing surface.
The pickups are handwound by Josefina Campos, whose work is legendary among Custom Shop collectors. Josefina trained directly under Abigail Ybarra, continuing the lineage of Fender's most celebrated pickup makers. Her Fat 60s set is known for its clarity, sweetness and dynamic response, with a chime and openness that players often describe as having an extra dimension. Josefina’s signature on a pickup set is one of the most sought‑after marks in the Strat world.
Paired with the Tone Saver treble bleed, the guitar retains its top‑end detail as you roll back the volume, making it easy to control gain and clean up your tone without losing sparkle. Jumbo 6100 fretwire and a 9.5 inch radius give the guitar a more modern playing feel while still retaining vintage character.
