The Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Seymour Duncan 50th Anniversary Telecaster celebrates five decades of Seymour W. Duncan's influence on electric guitar tone. In the early 1970s, while working in London, Seymour created the first Tele-Gib for Jeff Beck, blending Telecaster simplicity with humbucker power and sustain. Shortly after, he refined the concept for his own personal guitar, starting with a 1950s Fender body and neck but modifying intonation, string spacing and ergonomics to suit his playing style. That guitar became his lifelong workhorse, and this limited edition model recreates it in meticulous detail.
The one-piece select ash body features Seymour's custom arm and belly contours, finished in beautifully aged nitrocellulose lacquer for an authentic vintage feel. The comfortable C shape neck precisely matches the taper and profile of Seymour's original instrument. To complete the Tele-Gib experience, the guitar is fitted with an aged gold Gibson Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, offering the feel, sustain and tuning stability Seymour relied on in the studio and on stage.
At the heart of the guitar is a unique pre-production variation of the JB and Jazz pickup set, replicating the pickups Seymour built for his own Tele-Gib. Wound by Maricela MJ Juarez in the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop, lightly aged and exclusive to this model, the set features a slightly different bridge coil wire than a production JB and carefully de-gaussed magnets tuned to Seymour's personal preference. A 500k Bourns volume pot and 250k CTS tone pot match the exact wiring of Seymour's original guitar, delivering a familiar voice with added nuance and dynamic response.
Each instrument includes a certificate of authenticity signed by Seymour W. Duncan and the Fender Custom Shop, symbolising the collaboration between two icons. More than a collector's piece, the 50th Anniversary Telecaster is a direct link to the origins of modern electric guitar tone, built for players who want to hold history in their hands and experience the innovation that shaped the sound of rock music.
