The Bourgeois Guitars Downeast Series offers an exceptional starting point not only into the world of Bourgeois, but into high-end acoustics in general. Inspired by the local vocabulary of those on the coast of Maine USA, where the Bourgeois workshop is located, Downeast is routed in Dana's extremely high standards and is a nod to its roots, at a price point that is a little more affordable to the broader guitar community than some of their ultra high-end models.

These guitars are made by highly-skilled luthiers based out of the second Bourgeois workshop, in which Dana Bourgeois and Master Luthier James Witkus have guided and instilled their exacting precision into their team there with regular visits and tutelage.

At the core of this OMCE is an Aged Tone torrefied Sitka Spruce top paired with Indian Rosewood back and sides. A classic pairing of exceptional tonewoods, it brings rich warmth thanks to the torrefied top which sounds as if the guitar has already experienced years of opening up, bringing a beautiful balanced, woody tone.

The head veneer is a refined Ziricote and this is matched superbly with an Ebony fretboard, alongside the Traditional Ebony bridge. Understated and elegantly designed, this guitar is all about showcasing the incredible tone these woods produce.

The 14-fret Mahogany neck features a satin neck which is silky smooth with a 1 3/4" nut width, enabling for comfortable playability and quick transitions between chords all the way up and down the neck, and the Soloist Cutaway design means you can reach high notes with ease. The Der Jung tuners and Ivoroid bridge pins offer excellent tuning stability and impeccable clarity.

The high-gloss finish not only protects the instrument but also enhances its natural beauty, allowing the grain of the wood to shine through.

Loaded with an LR Baggs HiFi pickup system, the guitar is stage-ready and produces the highest quality plugged-in sound.
