The Bourgeois Professional Series offers a collection of versatile, professional-grade instruments, built without shortcuts and designed to showcase your talents, emphasising tone, playability, and classic good looks. Within this series, the Country Boy OM stands out as your ideal "daily driver." It's simple, clean, and incredibly versatile, everything you need, nothing you don't.
With a name suggested by Ricky Skaggs in the late 90s, the Country Boy features a AAAA grade Sitka Spruce top paired with premium Mahogany back and sides. This classic wood combination creates a versatile tonal platform that's agreeable with any playing style, from intricate fingerpicking to robust strumming. It boasts a 25.5" long scale length and a comfortable 1 3/4" nut width with a 2 5/16" bridge width, making it responsive for both delicate and powerful playing. The elegant Ebony fretboard and bridge are complemented by classic Mother of Pearl Vintage Style Dots for the inlays.
This particular OM sounds fantastic. Playing a single note sets off sympathetic vibrations from others, and the sustain is incredible. The guitar is perfectly balanced and beautifully voiced, truly a world-class OM that will inspire you every time you pick it up. Aesthetic touches like the Ziricote head veneer with the Mother of Pearl Bourgeois logo, tortoise body binding, and a thin satin finish on the neck, headstock, and body give it a refined, classic appeal. It comes equipped with reliable Schaller Vintage Bean 18:1 tuners and a traditional bridge with ebony pins.
Some guitars have a sweet niche. Few credibly occupy all of them. The OM guitar is the third largest 14-fret body size in the 0/00/000-OM/JOM-GA progression, and differentiates from the 000 by its 25.5" long scale neck. As Bourgeois' most popular body size, and probably the second-most popular acoustic guitar worldwide, it's no coincidence that the "Orchestra Model" appeals equally to fingerstyle players and flatpickers, thanks to its unparalleled combination of balance, presence, power, and comfortable playability. It wasn’t always that way. Once relegated to the history books, the OM began a slow resurgence in the mid-1980s after Schoenberg Guitars, co-founded by Dana, teamed up with C.F. Martin to introduce the first production-made OM since the 1930s.
