This Music Man BFR Albert Lee in Pink Burst is a pre-owned beauty from 2008, presenting a unique combination of design and tonal characteristics. This particular model is a Ball Family Reserve (BFR) instrument, produced during a period when BFR guitars were a standard part of the Music Man lineup, rather than limited editions.
Constructed with an ash body and a quilted maple top (an upgrade from the standard maple top), this guitar offers a distinct visual appeal. Internally, a mahogany tone block extends from the bridge to the neck pocket, providing enhanced resonance and sustain. This tone block is designed to add depth to the naturally bright characteristics of the ash and maple combination. Music Man implemented similar tone block designs in other models, such as the BFR John Petrucci and Steve Lukather models, albeit with alder bodies in those cases.
The neck is crafted from figured maple, exhibiting a higher degree of figuring than standard maple necks. It features mother-of-pearl inlays and a BFR inlay at the 12th fret. The guitar's design is a blend of retro and modern aesthetics, offering a lightweight and balanced playing experience.
This Albert Lee model is equipped with three custom-wound Seymour Duncan single-coil pickups, designed to provide a versatile range of tones. The pickups are designed to minimise hum, offering clear and consistent sound. The guitar is capable of producing bright, high-pitched twang, as well as smoother, more rounded tones, suitable for a variety of musical styles.
This specific guitar was completed on September 24, 2008. While the case shows signs of wear, the guitar itself is in excellent condition.
