Here at Peach Guitars, we're absolutely thrilled to showcase this incredible Gibson Custom Select 1964 ES-345 VOS, a real rarity that stands out from the crowd. Most ES-345's are usually Sunburst or Cherry, with the odd Natural and Black thrown in for good measure but Classic White is a real unicorn find!
Crafted in small, exclusive batches by the master artisans at the Gibson Custom Shop, the Custom Select series features hand-picked woods, premium appointments and eye-catching aesthetics curated by true guitar aficionados. These aren't your everyday runs, they're special, limited creations built with real passion and precision.
Back in the late '50s, Gibson president Ted McCarty revolutionised the guitar world by blending hollowbody warmth with solidbody sustain, giving birth to the legendary ES-335 in 1958. The semi-hollow design tames feedback while delivering that extra resonance you lose in a full hollowbody. Hot on its heels came the deluxe ES-345 in 1959, stepping things up with fancier trim, triple-bound body, split parallelogram inlays and all those refined details that scream classic luxury Gibson vibes.
This 1964 ES-345 is a meticulous recreation of Gibson's Golden Era, nailing every period-correct detail from the neck carve right through to the body contours and construction techniques. Early ES-345 necks started slimming down over the years, hitting their thinnest around 1961, but by '64 Gibson had settled on that glorious Chunky D-shape profile measuring a comfy .800" at the 1st fret and .900" at the 12th. It's super playable and feels just right in the hand. It's not super "chunky" like a '58 neck but it has a similar profile, nicely rounded and full but still trim enough for some fret melting up the top end!
The body is pressed using original vintage equipment from the old Kalamazoo factory, sandwiching two maple plies around a poplar core, exactly as they've done since '58. A long neck tenon and hot hide glue join ensure rock-solid resonance and vintage-correct tone throughout.
As a Custom Select and Made to Measure exclusive, proper ES-345s are pretty these days. Most come in classic Sixties Cherry or Vintage Sunburst with gold hardware, but this one turns heads with its clean, understated Classic White. The VOS finish has been around for what seems like forever but for good reason! If you're a "Relic Hater" but don't like super shiny new guitars, then VOS is just for you.
Loaded with a set of Gibson Custom Bucker pickups for the sweetest PAF tones around. This guitar can do classic Semi tones, along with full fat Les Paul sounds. If you tweak the rig, it almost goes into Telecaster territory as well. This is all before we've touched the classic Varitone filter circuit. From the sweetest BB King tones, right through to the hardest funk - the Varitone is a super fun addition to any Gibson ES model.
It ships with a proper '60s-style black hardshell case with yellow interior, plus a Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity. If you're after something truly special, this is it!
