There are certain guitars that stand the test of time, and with its timeless design, effortless playability, and rich history, it's easy to see why the Gibson Trini Lopez Standard remains such an iconic guitar.
Back in 1964, the Gibson Guitar Corporation approached the legendary singer and guitarist Trini Lopez and created the Gibson Trini Lopez Standard, based on the classic Gibson 335 semi-hollow guitar but with a few rock and roll tweaks, like the distinctive Firebird headstock and diamond-shaped sound holes. Today, the originals are held in high esteem as one of Gibson's top creations. This Reissue model by the Gibson Custom Shop pays perfect homage to one of the all-time greats.
While this guitar is a faithful recreation of the Trini Lopez original, it's impossible to talk about the Pelham Blue model without mentioning its most famous modern player: Dave Grohl. Whilst, this is not an official Dave Grohl signature model, it perfectly captures the aesthetic and vibe of the guitars he's made famous.
The original Gibson DG-335 signature models are incredibly rare and sell for around £10,000 to £15,000 on the used market. And while Epiphone offers a more affordable version, this is your chance to own a genuine Gibson Custom Shop guitar that delivers the look, feel, and tone of the one that inspired Grohl. This is a rare opportunity to get the sound and style of a guitar cherished by a rock icon, for a fraction of the price of his signature model.
The Trini Lopez Standard features a 335 body shape constructed with a 3-Ply Maple/Poplar/Maple body and a solid Maple centreblock, which provides great feedback resistance. The body sports a really sweet Pelham Blue Nitrocellulose finish, which will age beautifully over time, just like the original '60s models.
The Medium C profile neck is something special. Crafted from Mahogany, it features a gorgeous Rosewood fingerboard with the unique Split Diamond Cellulose Nitrate inlays. With a 12" radius, 24.75" scale length, and a 42.85mm nut width, it is superbly comfortable to play. With Authentic Medium-Jumbo fret wire and a tubeless historic truss rod, this guitar is as close as you can get to the real deal.
A pair of Unpotted Custombucker Alnico III humbuckers deliver a vintage-inspired tone, perfectly capturing that iconic '60s Gibson Archtop sound. The Single Diamond Trapeze tailpiece, with the Trini Lopez insert, paired with the ABR-1 bridge, offers a safe and secure playing platform.
The original Trini Lopez guitars are the stuff of legend. This Gibson Custom Shop Reissue is a rare, beautiful, and absolutely players' guitar. Don't miss this opportunity to own a truly special instrument.
