The Gibson Trini Lopez model is one of the coolest and most highly sought after Gibson models. Originally designed back in 1946, it’s a guitar which offers a fun twist on the fan favourite ES-335. Original guitars from the mid 1960s are like gold dust, they very rarely pop up on the used market, and the ones that do are very quickly snapped by collectors. This unique Custom Shop re-issue allows you to experience the magic of the original design, but with the reliability and confidence associated with a brand new instrument.
This Trini Lopez is a super unique instrument with loads of character. In fact, we can’t recall ever seeing another Trini Lopez finished in this colour, so if you want something rare, make sure to check this out. As always, all instruments purchased online or through our mobile app will receive a complimentary setup by our in house luthiers. Our team can accommodate any requests, so if you have any specific requests, just drop our team a call or an email and they’ll be happy to help.
With the Gibson Custom Trini Lopez model you’ve got a traditional 335 style body shape, so if you’re used to Gibson semi-hollow models you’ll feel right at home. It features a Maple/Poplar/Maple body and a light aged Argentine Grey nitrocellulose lacquer. Nitrocellulose has been long associated with Gibson instruments. The finish is super thin and allows the body to resonate much more effectively when compared to other popular finish types. With this model you will also find Murphy Lab ageing which has been painstakingly done by Tom Murphy’s incredible team of luthiers. We’ve visited the factory and seen their work in person, they will spend weeks working on instruments to get the ageing not only looking great, but also feeling great. On this guitar you’ll find some prominent lacquer checking, tarnished hardware, and some small dings, all of which help to give this guitar its vintage vibe!
With a pair of Custom Shop Custombucker pickups it delivers a really sweet tone with loads of character and dynamics. These pickups really are super responsive and touch sensitive, so if you move from fingerstyle to using a pick, you’ll really notice the difference in output. The Gibson Custom shop team have spent so much time perfecting their pickups to ensure it delivers the best possible tones, these pickups are a great choice and you’re sure to love them.
We can’t recall ever seeing another Trini Lopez model finished in Argentine Grey, let alone one that also feature Murphy Lab ageing. This is one seriously cool guitar, and we advise you act soon as it won’t hang around.
