Solid Mahogany Back and Sides - Thermally Aged Solid Sitka Spruce Top - L.R. Baggs Element Bronze VTC Electronics

The Gibson J-45 first appeared in 1942, and guitars from that original production year are amongst the most prized vintage acoustics worldwide. As Gibson’s best-selling acoustic model ever, the J-45 quickly gained the nickname “The Workhorse” for its straightforward design, timeless elegance, and reliable performance on stages and in studios around the globe.
Epiphone, working together with Gibson Custom, is proud to present the 1942 Banner J-45 Reissue, an exceptional tribute to the iconic original Workhorse model.
This guitar features a thermally aged solid spruce top reinforced with scalloped X-bracing, combined with solid mahogany back and sides. Together, these elements create the rich, balanced tone that has made the J-45 a longtime favourite amongst players. The pickguard retains the classic teardrop shape that was featured on the earliest J-45 models, preserving the vintage aesthetic that has become synonymous with this iconic guitar.
The one-piece mahogany neck has a V-shaped profile and is topped with an Indian rosewood fretboard fitted with 19 standard frets and decorated with mother-of-pearl dot inlays. It also features a 24.75” scale length, and a 44mm nut width. The headstock features the world-famous Gibson “open book” profile and bears the Inspired by Gibson Custom double diamond logo etched on the back, while the front displays the Epiphone logo and “Epiphone Inspired by Gibson” banner in gold silk screen.
To ensure it meets the needs and preferences of modern players, this guitar comes equipped with a built-in L.R. Baggs™ Element Bronze VTC preamp and undersaddle piezo pickup system, making it stage and studio ready whenever you are. It also includes a Red Line-inspired hardshell case featuring the Inspired by Gibson Custom logo on the exterior, providing secure protection for this exceptional acoustic guitar while you travel to your next gig.
