The Lollar Imperial Set is built to capture the character of the original 1950s PAF pickups while offering improved frequency balance and a slightly stronger bridge output for better position matching. These humbuckers deliver the open, dynamic and harmonically rich response players associate with great vintage PAFs, but with refinements that make them more consistent and articulate across the entire fretboard.
The neck pickup, at 7.6K, provides warmth and clarity without the muddiness that can affect some vintage-style winds. It offers smooth highs, a present midrange and a tight, controlled low end that keeps chords defined and single notes expressive. The bridge pickup, wound to 8.4K, adds a touch more output for a fuller, more confident voice while retaining the sweetness and dynamic feel of a true low-output PAF.
Both pickups respond beautifully to picking nuance and volume changes, excelling at clean and edge-of-breakup tones while maintaining excellent note separation under gain. Finished in nickel with single-conductor wiring, this set delivers an authentic vintage look and tone that feels alive, open and musical.
Average DC resistance: Neck 7.6K, Bridge 8.4K.
