The JHS Hard Drive is a purpose-built distortion pedal designed to capture the best of '90s and 2000s high-gain tones. Developed over eight years and finalised by the late Cliff Smith, this is JHS's first original high-gain circuit - not a clone, but a unique blend of inspirations including the Shredmaster, DS-1 and RAT.
At its core are cascading gain stages, a hard-limiting circuit, and a class AB amplifier section, delivering amp-like saturation, tight articulation and rich harmonics. The sweepable midrange EQ lets you pinpoint the exact frequency to cut or boost, while Baxandall-style bass and treble controls offer wide tonal shaping. Whether you're after tight modern crunch or a wall of distortion, the Hard Drive delivers with clarity and punch.
