The Gibson J-45 Studio Rosewood Satin Rosewood Burst offers a robust and versatile acoustic-electric guitar suitable for both studio recording and live performances. This guitar is constructed with a solid Sitka spruce top, known for its balanced tone and projection, paired with solid rosewood back and sides. Rosewood contributes a rich, warm character to the overall sound. The traditional body depth of the J-45 contributes to its full and resonant tone.
The neck is crafted from utile, a tonewood similar to mahogany, and features an Advanced Response profile, designed for comfortable playability and smooth transitions across the fretboard. The scale length of 24.75 inches (628.65 mm) is a standard Gibson scale length. The rosewood fingerboard has a 16-inch radius (406.4 mm), a comfortable curvature for chord work and soloing. The guitar has 20 standard frets and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. A Tusq nut, with a width of 1.725 inches (43.815 mm), provides consistent string spacing and contributes to tuning stability.
The J-45 Studio Rosewood Satin Rosewood Burst features traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing, which enhances the top's resonance and contributes to the guitar's overall projection. The body is bound with multi-ply binding on the top and single-ply binding on the back. The satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish provides a smooth feel and a subtle sheen. The guitar features a belly-up rosewood bridge with a Tusq saddle. Grover Rotomatic tuning machines ensure accurate and reliable tuning. A tear-drop tortoise pickguard protects the top from pick scratches.
For amplified performance, the J-45 Studio Rosewood Satin Rosewood Burst is equipped with an L.R. Baggs Element Bronze active under-saddle piezo pickup. This system provides a clear and natural amplified tone, suitable for both stage and studio use. The controls consist of a soundhole-mounted volume control. The output jack is a standard 1/4" endpin jack. The guitar comes strung with .012-.053 gauge strings and includes a modern hardshell case for protection and portability. The compound dovetail neck-to-body joint is attached with hot hide glue.
