For years, Gibson have used the "50s" and "60s" model approach across the Les Paul range, giving players the choice between two classic vintage-inspired specifications based on different eras of the guitar. Gibson have now introduced the same concept to the ES-335 range with the new "50s" and "60s" models, rather than just offering the standard ES-335 specs, Gibson is now giving semi-hollow players the same options Les Paul players have enjoyed for years. The 60s range provides features like a SlimTaper neck, T-type humbuckers, and Grover Rotomatic tuning machines. Whilst the 50s models retain that early traditional feel with a C rounded profile neck, PAF humbuckers and Vintage Deluxe machine heads with keystone buttons.
The ES-335 50s brings together all the iconic foundations of the first ES-335 guitars introduced back in 1958. Featuring a semi-hollow body, crafted from three-ply maple and poplar, paired with a solid maple centerblock that enhances sustain and cuts feedback significantly. The 50s ES-335 carries all the classic aesthetics from that era, and paired with a 59" style pickguard, single-ply cream binding on the front and back, and gold top hat knobs with dial pointers, it gives this range of guitars that traditional look/feel.
The mahogany neck boasts a super comfortable C rounded profile, inspired by the original 1950s models, perfect for players who enjoy a full, yet comfortable handful. Paired with a bound rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets and classic acrylic dot inlays. The neck feels super easy to glide across, perfect for longer playing sessions without getting fatigued. We also have Vintage Deluxe tuners with keystone buttons, combined with a Graph Tech nut and Tune-O-Matic bridge, which ensure excellent tuning stability. Finished with a Mother of Pearl Gibson logo and crown inlay on the headstock, the neck really captures that vintage 50s feel.
The ES-335 50s has two Custombucker pickups, that provide an amazing warm, dynamic voice with plenty of clarity, perfect for delivering those classic 50s tones. Each pickup is connected to its own hand-wired 500k volume and tone control, and paired with a three-way toggle switch, it offers huge tonal flexibility to the player.
The ES-335 50s range is perfect for players who favour the chunkier neck profile and traditional styling of the original 335's, blending vintage vibes with professional performance. All ES-335 50s era guitars come complete with a Gibson hardcase. The advantages of this type of case are that it offers maximum protection to your instrument and preserves the structural integrity of your instrument.
