This Fender Custom Shop 1962 Masterbuilt Stratocaster was crafted by the now former Fender Master Builder, Levi Perry. During his time with the Custom Shop, Levi worked on many prestigious projects, such as the Limited Edition George Harrison Rocky Stratocaster, and the of course El Mocambo series of instruments.
Over the years, we’ve received countless Fender Custom Shop instruments crafted by Levi Perry. His attention to detail, craftsmanship, and unique vision have always led to some incredibly creative and inspiring guitars. We’ve long been massive fans of his work, and it didn’t take long for our customers to feel the same way. Levi has now moved on from the Fender Custom Shop to begin his own project “Gavilan Guitars”. This is a unique opportunity to pick up one of the last brand new Fender Custom Shop Levi Perry Masterbuilt instruments available.
This 1962 Stratocaster really highlights why Levi’s work is a cut above the rest. It features a sort for lightweight Alder body finished with an Aged Olympic White nitrocellulose lacquer. This finish is extremely thin and has been authentically aged by Levi Perry. You’ll find prominent arm wear, belt buckle rash, and lacquer checking across the whole finish. Levi really is one of the best when it comes to ageing finishes. He always seems to know exactly how and where to fade certain areas of the guitar, giving each build a totally unique look and feel. On this one, you’ll notice the traditional Olympic White colour showing through on the arm contour, while the rest of the guitar has taken on a much creamier, aged white look. It really does capture the feel of an old ’60s Strat.
The neck is crafted from Plain Grain Maple and is extremely comfortable, it feels great in your hands and plays like a dream. It features a 59 Esquire C neck profile, which is one of our most popular and requested neck profiles. It measures .790” at the 1st fret, and .970” at the 12th fret. The sort for dark Rosewood fingerboard features 21 jumbo frets, 10.5” radius, 1.650” nut width, and white dot inlays.
It's loaded with a set of really versatile and high-quality pickups. It features a set of hand wound Fender 60/63 Strat pickups, which absolutely nail the chimey tone associated with early 1960s Fender Stratocasters.
This will most likely be the last Fender Custom Shop Levi Perry Masterbuilt guitar we receive, so if you like what you see, make sure to get in quick!
