Fender's Masterbuilt Custom Shops are always a treat when they come into our store - and this Dale Wilson 57 Tele is no exception! It looks beautifully unique and plays like a dream. You'd expect nothing less from Fender Custom's top dog.
The Alder body is finished in a Heavy Relic Ice Blue Metallic nitro lacquer, period correct, this finish will wear beautifully with time and develop its own character even further. It also allows the natural resonance of the body to sing and sustain much more effectively compared with other finishes. The Heavy Relic really showcases just why Dale Wilson is the king of the Fender Custom Shop - with exquisite attention to detail, it looks just like it's been on tour since 1957.
The dark tint 5/4 quartersawn Maple neck has a smooth, authentic, vintage feel. With a 9.50" radius, 21 6150 medium jumbo frets, 1.650" Nut Width, and a 25.5"scale length, it's a real joy to play. The neck back is unfinished and features a 10/56 "V" profile that measures .880" at the 1st fret and .980" at the 12th.
With the Telecaster design being considered by many to be the original workhorse guitar, the Custom Shop Telecaster needs a pickup pairing that can deliver the classic Tele' twang. With a pair of Hand Wound 63 Tele pickups it has a really articulate chime to it.
