These pickups use a combination of Alnico 5 magnets on the low E through G strings and hand-bevelled Alnico 2 magnets on the B and high E strings. This blend delivers a balanced tonal response, offering clarity in the higher register while maintaining depth and fullness in the lows. Each pickup is hand-wound for consistency and wrapped with copper shielding tape to minimise unwanted noise, ensuring a clean and articulate sound.
A custom magnet stagger design sets these pickups apart. With a "low G" magnet configuration, the transition from wound to plain strings is smooth and natural. The Alnico 5 under the G string enhances sustain and definition, while the slightly taller Alnico 2 magnets under the B and high E provide improved string-to-string balance and clear note separation. Combined with the reverse-wound, reverse-polarity (RWRP) middle pickup, players can enjoy hum-cancelling performance in positions 2 and 4, making them ideal for both studio and stage use.
