Dale Wilson is known across the globe as one of Fenders highly revered Masterbuilders, a select group of the worlds most esteemed luthiers. With this Godly status, any guitar with his name attached generates a huge amount of interest, and rightly so.
The Fender Custom Shop Dale Wilson Masterbuilt '60 Strat Heavy Relic is a great example of the legendary prowess of the Masterbuilders.
A sort for lightweight Alder body is finished in a stunning Chocolate 3-Tone Sunburst nitro lacquer. Authentically aged, this finish will wear beautifully with time and develop its own character even further. The thin nitro finish also allows the natural resonance of the body to sing and sustain much more effectively. Dale is the King of relic work at the custom shop and this certainly doesn't disappoint!
The rift sawn Maple neck has a smooth finish and with an AAA sort for dark Rosewood fingerboard, 9.5" radius and 21 jumbo 6100 frets, the '60 Custom Shop Stratocaster can handle anything you throw at it without even breaking a sweat; it's supremely comfortable and well balanced. The 59 Esquire "C" neck profile is extremely comfortable and easy to play. It measures .790" at the 1st fret and .970" at the 12th fret.
With the Stratocaster design being considered by many to be the original workhorse guitar, the Custom Shop '60 Stratocaster needs a pickup pairing that can deliver the classic Strat sound. With a duo of hand-wound El Diablo Strat single-coils with Seymour Duncan '78 Model humbucker in bridge and POMO Strat HSS wiring, it boasts a versatile and well balanced selection.
