This '61 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic in Aged Vintage White is a refined piece of Fender Custom Shop craftsmanship, offering vintage character, premium tonewoods and legendary electronics in a player-focused build. Its 2-piece alder body, paired with a thin nitro lacquer finish, delivers the resonance and natural ageing potential that serious Strat lovers dream of. Subtly aged with the Journeyman Relic treatment, it has the look of a guitar that's been played and cherished, but not just stored.
The quarter-sawn maple neck is shaped to a classic '60s-style oval C profile, matched with a dark, elegant AAA rosewood fretboard, specially sorted for colour depth and grain quality. A 9.5" radius and 6100 jumbo frets support expressive bends and fast phrasing, while the finish, a smooth satin blend of natural oil and wax, feels broken-in from day one.
At the heart of this guitar are its pickups, a trio of handwound Fat '60s single-coils, crafted by Josefina Campos, Fender's Master Pickup Winder and one of the most respected artisans in the industry. Josefina's journey began in 1991 on the factory floor in Corona, California, where she sanded bodies and loaded them for finishing. Her path changed forever when she began apprenticing under Abigail Ybarra, the legendary pickup winder who learned directly from Leo Fender himself.
Josefina absorbed every detail of Ybarra's technique, eventually taking over her role and becoming the Custom Shop's lead pickup winder. Her pickups are revered for their vintage-correct voicing, and touch-sensitive articulation, and they carry a legacy that stretches back to the very origins of Fender. Each coil is wound by hand, with care and precision that reflects decades of tradition and a deep personal connection to the craft.
As Josefina herself puts it: "I think the pickups are the heart of the guitar. I put all my love, all my dedication in my pickups. I give it all my heart." That passion is felt in every note this Strat produces.
The pickups in this guitar have an enhanced bass response, and crystalline highs, the kind of tone that feels alive in your hands.
250K 10% taper split pots offer smooth volume and tone control, giving you access to a wide dynamic range. Whether you're chasing bell-like cleans, punchy blues or warm vintage crunch, this Strat delivers in full detail.
