Bill Kelliher is best known as the mammoth riff machine from metal overlords Mastodon. Although his style is very much rooted in metal and prog, Kelliher draws influence from a much broader spectrum including punk, thrash and rockabilly. To cope with the complexity of his playing, Bill turned to long-time friend and master amp builder, Dave Friedman, and so the Butterslax was born!
Hand-wired in the U.S.A. using hand selected components, the Butterslax is a 100Watt, 3 channel monster. Packed with 4 EL34s this thing kicks out gain for fun. Channel one and two provides pristine clean and overdriven tones but channel three is where the magic really happens. Taking you to the absolute extreme, this powerhouse delivers those signature Mastodon tones without even breaking a sweat.
With a great harmonic range, super response and a surprisingly detailed mid-range, the Butterslax is definitely an amp worthy of Bill Kelliher's name!
