The Synergy OS preamp module offers guitarists access to the highly sought-after sound and feel of the legendary Dumble Overdrive Special amplifier, a design renowned for its exceptional tonal qualities and responsiveness. The original Dumble amplifiers, hand-built by Alexander "Howard" Dumble, are exceptionally rare and typically owned by a select group of prominent musicians, including Carlos Santana, Robben Ford, and the late Stevie Ray Vaughan. Each Dumble amplifier is unique, but the Overdrive Special is widely considered Dumble's most significant creation, celebrated for its ability to amplify the subtleties of a player's technique and sonic palette. This has resulted in its reputation as one of the most desirable and expensive amplifiers ever produced.

Recognising the limited availability of these iconic amplifiers, Synergy has developed the OS preamp module as a tribute to the Dumble Overdrive Special's distinctive sonic character. This module encapsulates the essence of the Dumble experience within a compact and practical format, offering a level of affordability and accessibility that the original amplifiers cannot provide.

The front panel of the OS module mirrors the fundamental controls found on the Overdrive Special amplifier. It features two footswitchable channels, allowing seamless transition between the articulate and mid-focused Dumble clean tone and the acclaimed smooth, sustaining overdrive that defines the Overdrive Special. Tone shaping capabilities include Bright and Deep switches, as well as Rock/Jazz switches, which, in conjunction with a three-band equaliser, enable precise tonal adjustments while preserving the inherent Dumble sonic signature. A master presence control is also included, providing further refinement of the high-end clarity specifically for the overdrive mode.

While no emulation can perfectly replicate the nuances of an original Dumble amplifier, the Synergy OS preamp module allows guitarists to capture the core sonic characteristics of one of the world's most esteemed amplifiers. Furthermore, it integrates seamlessly with the Synergy system, providing access to a wide array of other classic amplifier tones.

An additional feature of the Synergy OS module is the Cathode Select Switch. This three-position switch provides the user with the ability to configure the input valve bass response, emulating the original circuit designs of various modules. This adjustment directly influences the feel and tightness of the sound. Recognising that each amplifier designer employs specific component combinations in their input valve circuitry, Synergy has incorporated the three most commonly used configurations into this switch. This allows users to experiment with different settings to find their preferred response.
