The Synergy JMP Preamp Module marks a landmark collaboration between Synergy and Marshall. By pairing Synergys modular platform with Marshalls original JMP circuit design, this preamp delivers the same unmistakable tone, response, and character that defined a generation of rock. It brings the classic sound into a flexible format thats perfectly suited for stage, studio, or home use.
Marshall has been at the centre of rock music since the 1960s, providing the sound behind countless iconic players and performances. Their legendary Plexi and JMP designs set the standard for guitar tone, moving effortlessly from sparkling cleans to rich overdrive and the unmistakable roar that defined decades of rock. By bringing this heritage into the Synergy platform, Marshall ensures that the classic character and power of their amps is captured with all the authority and nuance that made them the benchmark in the first place.
The Marshall JMP preamp module offers two fully independent channels, each equipped with Volume 1, Volume 2, and Master controls. Both channels feature their own Bass, Middle, and Treble EQ, along with a Bright switch for each volume, giving you detailed control over your sound. To capture the evolution of the JMP across its golden years, the module also includes two vintage-inspired switches. The 60s setting delivers the smoother, rounder character of early JMPs, while the 70s mode tightens things up for a more aggressive response, perfect for classic hard rock tones.
Just like the original Plexi, Volume 1 and Volume 2 can be blended for nuanced gain shaping, while the dual master volumes allow you to access the full range of Marshall tones at any level. Whether you want subtle variations between channels or a clear rhythm and lead setup, the JMP module delivers authentic flexibility with unmistakable Marshall character.
In a traditional tube amplifier, the preamp shapes the tone and adds gain, while the power amp is responsible for volume, punch, and the dynamic response that gives a tube amp its character. To recreate that same experience inside a compact module, the JMP incorporates a unique 0-watt power amp design. This includes a genuine phase inverter and a small transformer, allowing the module to capture the harmonic complexity, saturation, and feel of a cranked Marshall power section.
The Marshall JMP module includes a three-position switch on the PCB that lets you adjust the input tube bass response, matching the original circuits used in classic designs. These settings influence both the overall feel and the tightness of the low end.
Different amp designers have always relied on their own preferred component combinations for the input stage, and this switch gives you access to three of the most popular options. Position 1 uses a 1.5K resistor with a 22uf capacitor, Position 2 pairs a 2.7K resistor with a 0.68uf capacitor, and Position 3 features a 1.8K resistor with a 1uf capacitor. The JMP module comes factory-set to Position 1, but experimenting with all three allows you to fine-tune the response to suit your own style.
