The Synergy SYN-1 Single Module Tube Preamp offers a practical solution for guitarists seeking to expand their tonal palette. The SYN-1 provides a flexible approach to achieving boutique tone through several connection methods. Firstly, it allows for direct output via XLR or 1/4" connections into recording consoles, live venue mixers, or powered monitors. This enables users to capture or project the authentic sound and feel of classic tube amplifiers without relying on microphone placement. The direct XLR output features a cabinet simulation, which can be bypassed if the user prefers to employ their own impulse responses. Furthermore, the inclusion of a front-mounted Sag control, developed in collaboration with amplifier designer Steven Fryette, allows for precise adjustments to the feel and response characteristic of tube amplifiers. This direct recording and performance capability delivers genuine tube-driven tone, avoiding digital approximations.

Secondly, the SYN-1 can integrate with existing amplifiers equipped with a series effects loop. By connecting the SYN-1 using a standard three-cable method, users can switch between the two channels of the installed Synergy preamp module and their amplifier's built-in channel(s). Engaging the bypass function on the footswitch effectively removes the amplifier's preamp from the signal path, granting complete tonal control to the SYN-1 and allowing seamless switching between the module's two channels. This functionality allows users to transform virtually any amplifier into one emulating a Diezel VH4, Friedman BE, Morgan AC40, or other amplifiers represented in the Synergy module range through a simple module swap. The SYN-1 also features its own onboard effects loop, allowing for the integration of rack-mounted and pedal-based effects either before or after the preamp stage.

For users whose amplifiers lack a series effects loop, the SYN-1 can still be utilised by connecting its 1/4" direct output to the amplifier's input. While this configuration does not bypass the existing amplifier's preamp and only allows access to the two channels of the Synergy module, it still provides the benefit of adding two distinct boutique amplifier channels to the user's setup.
