The Sterling John Petrucci JP157 DiMarzio is a 7-string guitar designed to expand the capabilities of the JP150 line. Its body is constructed from Nyatoh with a spalted maple veneer top, providing a balanced tone with clear low-end response and bright, articulate highs. The 25.5" scale length combined with a bolt-on roasted maple neck ensures precise intonation, stability, and durability while maintaining the smooth playability John Petrucci is known for.
The guitar features an ebony fingerboard with 24 medium-jumbo stainless steel frets, offering a fast, responsive feel and excellent sustain. The 16" neck radius and custom JP inlays support comfortable fretting across the entire neck, making it easier to execute complex chord shapes and fast runs. The stainless steel frets also enhance durability and maintain a smooth playing surface over time, reducing the need for frequent maintenance.
Equipped with DiMarzio LiquiFire (neck) and Crunch Lab (bridge) humbuckers, the JP157 delivers a versatile tonal range suitable for modern rock and progressive styles. The push/push volume boost and tone controls, along with a 3-way toggle pickup selector, allow players to tailor their sound precisely. Additional features include locking tuning machines for stable tuning, a modern tremolo bridge for expressive pitch modulation, and a deluxe Sterling by Music Man gig bag for secure transport.
