Each instrument is crafted with reclaimed timber, making each instrument totally unique.
This limited edition instrument features a Semi-Hollow body crafted from Mahogany, and a Peroba Rosa top. Peroba Rosa, a historic hardwood traditionally used as siding in Brazil, has been repurposed for the top of this limited edition model. Aged between 100 and 150 years, its natural density brings a distinct tonal character that pairs beautifully with the semi-hollow construction. The result is a voice that balances punch and clarity with a warm, full-bodied resonance, making the S2 Special Semi-Hollow Reclaimed Limited Edition truly one of a kind. Each piece Peroba Rosa looks totally unique, so every instrument will have a truly one of a kind aesthetic.
This guitar also features a neck crafted from Cuban Mahogany which was salvaged from municipalities and private landowners in need of removing hazard trees from their property. This neck is super stable and can feature some subtle figuring. The fretboard is crafted from Guaribu Preto, which has been sourced directly from Brazil. This wood was historically used as support beams within houses in Brazil, so is known for its strength. The neck and fretboard also feature a 25 scale length, 22 frets, a 10 radius, a pattern regular neck profile, and of course, bird inlays.
A guitar this cool needs a pickup loadout with plenty of tonal options, and this guitar has just that. It features a pair of 58/15LT humbuckers, alongside a Narrowfield single coil in the middle position. These pickups are extremely versatile and clear, they do a great job at letting the natural characteristics of the exotic tone wood shine through. The controls includes on the guitar are a master volume, master tone, 5-way pickup switch, and two mini toggle switches for engaging the coil-tap functions. This guitar also features a PRS patented tremolo system, and phase III locking tuners. A premium gig bag is also included.
Here are some direct quotes from both Paul Reed Smith, and Michael Reid about these exciting guitars.
Wood is a crucial element to our guitar making heritage. Michael Reid, our Senior Wood Buyer, has been my curly maple wood provider and buyer since 1980 - before PRS was officially PRS - and we still work together as partners today. The deep relationships Michael has formed worldwide with our wood suppliers are remarkable. Guitars like this are a great way to highlight some of the interesting, personal stories from his travels and musical wood understanding, - Paul Reed Smith.
It is impossible to fool a good guitar player. Everyone who has a guitar made from these woods sees them as a legitimate tool for serious players, not as a gimmick. Michael Reid, PRS Guitars Senior Wood Buyer
