Andy Powers likes to bring new ideas to the table and the A-Type body is no exception. Taking inspiration from his home town of San Diego, this hot rod, surf, and skate inspired shape is super light and boasts a fully enclosed, trussed hollowbody with internal sound posts to maximise resonance and sustain. The soft edges and contoured arm rest mean that it's supremely comfortable as well.

The A-Type features a unique split radius, different from any typical compound radius. On the treble side, the radius is flatter, which facilitates easier string bending and faster playability. On the bass side, it's rounder, making chord playing more comfortable and natural. This asymmetrical design ensures that the guitar feels perfect in every playing style.

Both the A-Type and A-Type select include all of the same innovative features - with either pickup or tailpiece configuration. The differences here are the hand picked figured maple top wood and transparent burst finishes that make for a truly unique piece.

Almost all of the components of the A-Type are machined specifically for this guitar - meaning that Andy was able make his own take on the tremolo design. Utilising individual radiuses for each string on the tailpiece, it allows each string to decrease in pitch at the same rate, relative to each other. Chords stay as chords and bends don't throw the other strings out of pitch. Hardtail options are also available for snappy string changes and a clear tone.

There are two sets of pickups available for these guitars with their own unique characteristics. The Full Faraday (FF42) and Partial Faraday (PF42) pickups use a Faraday cage to reduce hum and noise whilst Andy's unique use of Neodymium magnets and Aluminium's effect on them creates a field where the strings can vibrate more naturally. The FF42 emphasises clarity and warmth whilst the PF42 is firm and bright - both are powerfully versatile.

With further inspiration from Andy's surfing passion, the control knobs, pickup switch tip, and trem arm grip are all crafted from surfboard resin with their colours matched to the guitar's finish. It's such a unique touch that brings a whole lot of style.
