Rooted in the vibrant culture of San Diego's North County, the A-Type's design draws inspiration from classic cars, hot rods, and surfboards. Every line and contour of this guitar is meticulously crafted to achieve a harmonious blend of aesthetic appeal and functional excellence. The result is a fully enclosed, slim hollowbody guitar that offers a distinctive asymmetrical shape, balancing modern embellishments with timeless styling.
This particular A-Type was built as part of Powers Electric’s NAMM 2026 collection. Each model features a unique “super birdseye” maple top, which really makes it stand out from other models. Only 10 A-Types in this colour will ever be made, so these guitars are seriously limited and are a unique piece of Powers Electric history!
The A-Type is designed with player comfort at its core. Its lightweight, hollow body construction ensures perfect balance whether the player is standing or sitting. The contoured armrest and radiused body edges further enhance the playing experience, making the guitar feel like an extension of the player. The neck is carefully crafted to strike the ideal balance between being not too big and not too slim. The asymmetrical fretboard is flatter on the treble side, which allows for effortless string bending and maximum playability.
Central to the A-Type's sound are the FF42 (full Faraday) pickups. These pickups, made with 42-gauge wire and a full Faraday cage, deliver a warm, rich tone with exceptional clarity. The trussed hollowbody, featuring internal soundposts and a braced solid-wood top, enhances resonance and sustain while minimising feedback. This combination of advanced body architecture and meticulously designed pickups ensures a sound that is both vibrant and nuanced.
This guitar features Andy’s innovative CamTail bridge design. This system compensates for string tension and gauge, maintaining pitch stability even during intense use. The CamTail includes a locking mechanism for zero-point return, allowing for precise pitch control.
