If you’re anything like me, as soon as you open the Instagram app you’re greeted to a deluge of immaculate pedalboards, quite often featuring a tasty selection of Strymons and boutique fuzzes! Intricate wiring, super tidy velcro and not a speck of dust or dirt to be seen.
I’m sure this resonates with most of the guitar playing social media dwelling populus, and if it does, you’ve all probably noticed another note worthy addition to most of these glorious boards. It slips under the radar to some extent but to those in the know it’s maybe the ultimate “always on” pedal!
So what is this mystical box of tonal majesty?
The Hudson Broadcast of course!
Fans of the Broadcast, and of Peach Guitars, will know that we have a long and vibrant history with Hudson, the result is a series of Limited Edition Broadcasts in a selection of super classic colours!
Another Peach favourite is the insanely talented Ariel Posen, so when the 2 collide it’s guaranteed to capture our attention! Introducing the latest version of the Ariel Posen Signature Broadcast, the Hudson Broadcast AP-II.
The Broadcast is a transformer-coupled, discrete Class-A germanium circuit that takes its inspiration from classic recording consoles of the ‘60s. The unique way in which the circuit saturates and colours your signal can be used to produce biting clean boosts, subtly coloured and thickened signals with a frayed-at-the-edge quality, or, when pushed, an individual sounding overdrive with a fuzzy, fried texture.
What makes the Broadcast AP-II so special is the two independent, differently-voiced preamplifier circuits which each add their own subtle colour. The first is fitted with a silicon transistor and transformer, bringing the smooth, darker tone of the original Broadcast-AP. The second removes the transformer and replaces the silicon with a germanium transistor, resulting in a brighter, more aggressive tone. Each circuit has a large gain range, and cascading one into the other provides further sonic options, from subtle boosts through to heavily-distorted sounds.
These little rippers NEVER stay around for long, so if you want to be admiring it on your pedalboard and not the boards on Instagram, you're going to want to move FAST!
