Adam Jones is a creative mastermind, and his creative endeavours stretch far beyond his legacy as the driving force behind experimental rock band, Tool.
Not only is he considered to be one of the most iconic guitar players of his generation, but his talents extend to visual arts, sculpture and special effects. He has worked on films such as Ghostbusters II and Predator 2, developed and directed multiple Tool videos and even won a Grammy for his work as Art Director on the Tool record 10,000 days, he is a multi talented visionary, who thrives on thinking outside of the box.
His work with Tool will long be revered, and it’s here that he has found incredible success. 4 Grammy wins, over 14 million albums sold and a legion of die hard fans who follow them with cult-like enthusiasm.
As a long-time Gibson artist, it was no surprise when The Gibson Adam Jones Silverburst Les Paul Custom was announced shortly after the release of “Fear Inoculum”. It’s been a few years now, and we’ve had a bevy of custom art collection options, and now we’re really excited to feast our eyes on the BRAND NEW Adam Jones Flying V Collector’s Edition in Reverse Antique Silverburst.
It’s an absolute monster and a real statement piece, so let’s check it out! With a Mahogany body, with a 3-piece plain Maple top, this guitar delivers that timeless tonal partnership, it’s straight outta the tone playbook. The Reverse Antique Silverburst finish is a real sight to behold, starting Silver and working into Black, this finish has been painstakingly applied and aged by the master artisans as the Murphy Lab.
The 3-piece Maple neck features a Medium-C profile, 22 frets, mother of pearl block inlays and an Ebony fingerboard. It’s poised and balanced, ready to riff hard and bring those searing Adam Jones licks to the front of any mix!
The custom-wound Seymour Duncan DDJ humbuckers have an incredible dynamic range and response, and you’ll find one in the bridge here. From brutal chugging through to those pristine mid-heavy cleans that sit so well together, this V is a versatile and really beautifully balanced guitar. The neck boasts a reverse mounted Custombucker which perfectly complements the DDJ, it’s a great mix.
Only 50 of these stunners will be crafted by the Gibson Custom Shop, we’re super excited to have our right here in the studio with us now. It’s an absolute dream machine and an incredible example of the collaborative process between Gibson and their artists!
