The Music Man Tim Commerford Passive StingRay Bass is a professional instrument designed in collaboration with Tim Commerford of Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, and 7D7D. Built with a lightweight ash body, roasted maple neck, and ebony fingerboard, it offers strength, stability, and a smooth playing feel. The sculpted 5-bolt neck joint provides easy access across all 22 high profile, wide stainless steel frets, while the compensated nut ensures accurate intonation across the 11" radius fingerboard. Its durable oil and wax finish enhances comfort and playability, making it a reliable choice for both stage and studio use.
This model is equipped with a powerful neodymium humbucker featuring a 3-position rotary switch for parallel, single-coil, or series pickup options, along with a push volume control offering a passive gain boost. The bevelled pickup cover doubles as a thumb rest, while the custom finger ramp supports consistent fingerstyle playing and improved right-hand technique. Combined, these features allow for greater precision and control during performance.
The StingRay's bridge design includes a string-through-body construction with hardened steel saddles for solid tuning stability and sustain. Adjustable red mute pads are fitted to the bridge, giving players the ability to customise muting and string dampening to suit their personal preference or performance needs. Black-plated hardware and matching headstock complete the professional aesthetic, while lightweight tuners with tapered posts ensure smooth, accurate tuning. The Tim Commerford Passive StingRay Bass combines high-end craftsmanship, versatile electronics, and performance-focused features into a premium instrument for serious bassists.
