Limited to only 10 pieces worldwide, Peach Guitars proudly presents an S-50 from Lowden's Winter 2023 collection, personally handpicked by our director, John Priest, during his visit to the renowned Lowden Guitars workshop.
The S body shape was initially designed for Nick Webb of Acoustic Alchemy in 1994, defying expectations with its astonishing volume and bass response for a smaller body. Crafted with a Bass-biased design, this guitar unleashes a captivating blend of warmth and brightness,
The back and sides are an extremely rare and stunning example of Master Grade Royal Ebony, also known as Pale Moon Ebony. Renowned for its rich tone and captivating beauty, this wood imbues the guitar with exceptional clarity and sustain. The particular set chosen for this guitar showcases a unique play of predominantly dark hues with striking light highlights - the opposite of what one normally finds on a Pale Moon Ebony guitar.
The soundboard is made from an exceptional piece of Master Grade Sinker Redwood. Harvested from logs that sank and remained preserved underwater for decades, the Sinker Redwood offers a resonant-rich alternative to traditional tonewoods. The top on this guitar features a prominent dark stripe in the centre and tight grain. The balance achieved by Sinker Redwood is unparalleled, combining the brightness of spruce with a hint of cedar-style warmth; truly a do-it-all wood that has become a favourite amongst Lowden's discerning clientele.
The neck, a 5-piece Mahogany/Rosewood masterpiece, ensures stability and resonance, while the Ebony fingerboard with Maple Bindings and an extended curved end provides a smooth playing experience. The GL standard neck profile, measuring 45mm at the nut and extending to 57mm at the 14th fret, offers comfort and playability for any style.
This S-50 features an elegant Soundbox Bevel crafted from curved Ebony. This innovative design, initially introduced on the Pierre Bensusan signature model, enhances playing comfort without compromising the guitar's aesthetic integrity.
To complete this extraordinary instrument, Gotoh Gold 510 tuners with Ebony buttons and Lowden Light Gauge 12-53 strings ensure precision tuning and playability. With only 10 Winter Limited Edition 2023 models made worldwide (just two of which are S-50s) this is a testament to Lowden's commitment to unparalleled quality and sonic excellence.
