The Lowden F‑12 is part of the Original Series, capturing the essence of George Lowden's earliest designs: understated aesthetics, AAA‑grade tonewoods and the unmistakable Lowden voice. Built with AAA East Indian rosewood back and sides and a AAA Sitka spruce soundboard, this F‑12 delivers the full, warm, dynamically responsive tone that defines the Original Series. The F body size sits between the S and O models, offering exceptional balance, projection and versatility across bluegrass, fingerpicking, Celtic strumming and modern acoustic styles.
George Lowden's lightweight bolt‑on neck joint design preserves the natural balance of the instrument while maintaining a solid, stable connection. The three‑piece mahogany neck reduces stiffness slightly, allowing more of the neck's natural vibration to transfer into the body. The result is a guitar that retains the classic Lowden character but feels even more adaptable across different playing approaches.
Signature Lowden appointments include the seven‑piece wood rosette, five‑piece neck, rosewood headstock facing, and an ebony fingerboard. The craftsmanship is meticulous, with clean lines, refined detailing and a focus on tonal purity rather than ornamentation.
This example is fitted with an LR Baggs Anthem pickup system, offering studio‑quality live tone with a blend of microphone realism and undersaddle clarity. It is hand built in Ireland and comes with a hardshell case.
