The SD-50 was created with two things in mind. To create an instrument with traditional 'vintage' features like a slotted headstock, hand-carved volute, and diamond inlays. But at the same time maintain the unique tonal balance of the standard Larrivée symmetrical parabolic bracing system.

The enlarged soundhole allows significantly greater mid-range punch, emphasising the low end, and increasing overall volume. This SD-50 features their highest grade mahogany, herringbone trim, and traditional angled bone nut. The cast bronze open-back tuners feature engraved design work by Wendy Larrivée. One of the many fine details that put this guitar in a category of its own.
