JBL BandBox Solo

The JBL Bandbox Solo is a compact, AI-powered practice amp and full-range speaker that feels like a genuine breakthrough for guitarists. It lets you plug in, stream your favourite songs and actually step inside the mix. Despite its small footprint, it delivers bold, surprisingly loud JBL sound with a punchy low end that makes backing tracks and amp tones feel far bigger than the box they come from.

The headline is Stem AI real-time vocal and instrument separation, and for guitar players it is a total game changer. Stream any track and Bandbox Solo automatically splits out vocals, drums and guitar in real time. You can mute the original guitar and take the solo yourself, isolate a tricky riff until it is second nature, or drop the vocal to front the band. For transcribing, learning parts by ear and really hearing how things are played, this is on a different level to anything we have had in a 'practice amp' before.

Under the hood, the Solo uses JBL's full-range design to deliver 18 watts of clean, powerful sound with no clipping or unwanted distortion. It is properly loud for its size, with a tight, satisfying low end that makes it feel more like a mini PA than a typical desktop amp. Whether you are practising guitar, bass, drums or vocals, everything sounds clear, punchy and inspiring.

The built-in legendary guitar amp and effects models shrink a whole amp stack and pedalboard into a pocket-sized rig. You get classic effects like phaser, chorus, tremolo and reverb, plus vintage and modern amp voices to match your mood. There is also a tuner, metronome and pitch/key shifting: if a song is in tuned down to D Standard and you are not in the mood to retune, just shift the pitch; if the vocal is out of your range, drop the key and make it yours.

A big integrated LED pixel screen lights up when you need it, making it easy to dial in tools, amp models and effects, then fades away when you are locked in and just playing. With up to 6 hours of battery life, the Bandbox Solo will usually outlast your fingers, sticks or vocal cords.

The JBL One app gives you full control from your phone: tweak volume, tone and EQ, change pitch or key, build your own pedal chain, swap amp models and run all the practice tools and AI separation without touching the amp. When inspiration hits, connect via USB-C and record straight into your DAW, no extra interface required.
