The Gibson Flying V has always been one pretty radical guitar, initially launched back in '58 as part of Gibson's attempt to embrace futuristic design, it's been a players favourite ever since. Played by the likes of Lonnie Mack, Albert King and on occasion Hendrix, it's one cool cat. This model is a mash up between a traditional V and Gibson's famous Les Paul Custom models. Back in the '50s, Gibson used Korina to build their Flying V's so never experimented with finish options, by crafting this one from Mahogany it opened up the option to utilise the classic "Tuxedo" finish we all love
The Gibson Flying V Custom is the ultimate way to experience what makes the Flying V so special. With a solid Mahogany body, this Custom is finished in stunning Ebony with Gold hardware. I think it's fair to say it's a real eye catcher.
The Mahogany neck boasts a 24.75" scale length, an Ebony fingerboard with Pearloid block inlays. This is the long awaited return of the Ebony board.
The Flying V Custom is loaded with a 490R at the neck and a 498T at the bridge. These humbuckers deliver that tone that only a Les Paul can produce. With Alnico II and V magnets they are inspired by the original PAF pickups that have become so iconic.
A real powerhouse, this Gibson Flying V Custom comes complete with Gibson hardcase for great protection at home and on the road.
