Fresh from the success of the original PRS Private Stock Super Eagle, a collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and Grammy winning guitarist John Mayer, PRS have announced the release of the highly anticipated Super Eagle II.
Limited to just 120 pieces worldwide, it features updated woods and a range of new aesthetic appointments. Just as with the original John Mayer Super Eagle, these guitars are exactly the same spec as Mayer's and feature as one of his main guitars when touring with The Dead & Company.
The Private Stock Super Eagle II is a highly-sophisticated instrument, one that pushes the boundaries of construction, design, and craftsmanship. The end result is an instrument that boldly promotes the PRS Private Stock culture of meticulous workmanship.
The Super Eagle II features a one piece Private Stock Curly Maple back, African Blackwood fingerboard and headstock veneer, Paua birds and a green ripple abalone 12th fret violin bird and Private Stock eagle, as well as a new colour: Hemp Green.
For a player like John Mayer, tone is everything, and with a show like The Dead & Company he needs a guitar that can offer complete versatility. The Super Eagle II fulfils both these requirements, and then some. With specially-wound 58/15 JM treble and bass pickups either side of a specially-wound Narrowfield JM with three individual coil-tap mini switches, the Super Eagle II is a tone monster. To further enhance the sound, additional tonal options are available via the JCF Audio Preamp with treble boost facility. It's a super spec'd guitar for a super spec'd player!
