George Benson is something of a legend, with 10 Grammy Awards to his name and a career spanning over 60 years, he certainly knows how to pen a classic. In celebration of their 40 year association, Ibanez and Benson have released the Ibanez GB40THII-AA George Benson 40th Anniversary, a worthy tribute to this long running relationship.
With a Solid Spruce top on a Flamed Maple back and sides, you not only get stunning aesthetics but a beautiful natural tone too, rich and even, it delivers the smooth soul and jazz vibes that George Benson is so well known for. It's super dynamic and has great response.
The Benson 3 piece Maple set neck features a bound Ebony fingerboard, adorned with an intricate GB40 special inlay it has a real premium feel. With 22 medium frets, a 24.7" scale and Ibanez Artstar fret edge treatment, it plays like a dream. Strung with .011-.050 flatwound strings you get that real smooth, warm feel.
Loaded with George Benson Special Alnico pickups you get a sweet vintage jazz tone, with super clarity and note definition it is the sound that has inspired some of his greatest hits. The VT14 tailpiece features a specially designed wooden cover; it looks great and complements the design of this guitar perfectly.
