The F-40E brings the quality that always comes with Guild's USA models. If you have ever played one of Guild's jumbo-sized models, you'll know how awesome they are. They have an impressive thump to the bass and a crispness to the treble. If you prefer things on the more-vintage side, once the strings wear in a little the tone becomes deader and they have so much vibe to them. This particular jumbo is built with all solid woods - spruce for the top and mahogany for the back and sides. Inside the guitar we are treated to scalloped braces, which have been designed to add to both the structure and gorgeous sonic qualities. The look of the guitar is gorgeous, featuring a satin nitrocellulose finish.
The nut width on this guitar is 43mm and the neck is a C-shape, offering a very comfortable feel for most players - not too big and not too small. The saddle and nut are made of bone which allow excellent energy transference between the strings and the wood and the guitar comes complete with a deluxe humidified wooden hard case. The pickup is made in California by L.R. Baggs and is the Element undersaddle model. It is designed to work with the soundboard's movement rather than the string-attack, helping create a natural sound rather than the harshness of some acoustic guitar pickups.
