Gibson Kirk Douglas Signature SG Ebony

When the SG debuted back in '61 it was considered pretty radical for the time, with its thin body and no nonsense styling, it clearly focussed on raw power and playability. This Signature takes inspiration from on of the most iconic guitars ever produced.

Description

The Kirk Douglas Signature SG from Gibson is one of the most exciting releases coming out from NAMM 2021. When the SG debuted back in '61 it was considered pretty radical for the time, with its thin body and no nonsense styling, it clearly focussed on raw power and playability. This Signature takes inspiration from on of the most iconic guitars ever produced.

As the guitarist with The Roots, the beloved house band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on NBC, "Captain" Kirk Douglas has developed a well-earned reputation as a stellar player. His guitar collection includes several Gibson models, but arguably the sexiest is his three-pickup Gibson™ SG™ Custom, which is now commemorated in the new Kirk Douglas signature SG from Gibson USA.

Built with a rich and resonant Mahogany body finished in a gorgeous Ebony Nitrocellulose Lacquer, not only does this give the guitar an incredible appearance, it allows the wood to vibrate much more effectively when compared to other finish types. It is incredibly well balanced and perfectly weighted, exactly what we know and love about Gibson. The traditional Mahogany neck is supremely comfortable, offering nothing but a premium playing experience. A bound Rosewood fingerboard is adorned with block inlays, a 24.75" scale length, a 12" Radius, 1.695" Nut Width and of course a SlimTaper profile designed with the player in mind.

As a true working musician Douglas requires a pickup loaded which is versatile and responsive to his every need. Modelled on his Gibson SG Custom this guitar includes a trio of BurstBucker pickups, this loadout is incredibly dynamic and with a Master Volume,Master Tone, plus individual Volume controls with coil spilt capabilities for each pickup you can really sculpt your tone you be exactly how you like it.

The Aluminum Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge with a Kirk Douglas "Captain" Lyre Tail Vibrola provides a stable and comfortable playing platform. Paired with Keystone tuners you can expect to find zero tuning issues on this SG. With Gold hardware across the board this SG looks super slick.

This Kirk Douglas SG is one of the coolest releases from 2021 NAMM, it is pretty clear why. Make sure to check this out here at Peach Guitars whilst you still can!
