The Gibson J-45 is one of the most iconic acoustic guitars ever made. In fact, it's Gibson's best-selling acoustic guitar of all time! It originally launched back in 1942 and since then, it has gone on to be used on countless legendary recordings and records. With its full, rich tone and effortless playability, it's easy to understand why players love it!
This Gibson J-45 Standard is a great way to experience what makes the J-45 such a fan favourite. These guitars are all hand built in Bozeman, Montana, in Gibson's dedicated acoustic factory. Their team is highly skilled and dedicated to making the best instruments possible, which enables you the player to buy with confidence and focus on the fun part, actually playing guitar!
This Gibson J-45 Standard features a round-shouldered dreadnought body crafted with a solid Sitka Spruce top, and solid Mahogany back and sides. This tonewood combination, in conjunction with the scalloped X-bracing, delivers a powerful tone that's extremely fun to play. J-45s are known for their rich mid-range, punchy bass, and overall warmth, and these guitars certainly have all of those qualities.
The Mahogany Slim Taper neck is super comfortable and great for playing chords, as well as fingerstyle playing. The Rosewood fingerboard is dark in colour and feels super smooth under your fingers. It features 20 standard frets, a 12" radius, a 24.75" scale length, a 43.82mm nut width, and classic mother-of-pearl dot inlays.
One of the most important features of this guitar is the LR Baggs HiFi DNA pickup, which LR Baggs designed in close collaboration with the Gibson Montana team. This pickup is exclusive to Gibson guitars and is designed to deliver an amplified version of the guitar's natural voice without drastically altering or affecting the guitar's tone. This active system uses two lightweight sensors mounted on the internal bridge plate. The sensors are matched with optimised individual preamps to deliver a full-bodied amplified acoustic tone that lets the guitar's character and personality come through. The system also includes volume and tone controls, which are mounted in the soundhole, so you can quickly adjust your tone if needed.
Other key features of this guitar include Grover Rotomatic tuners, a traditional belly-up bridge crafted from Rosewood, and a high-quality Gibson-branded hardshell case. If you've ever wanted to own a J-45, this is a great place to start!
