The Gibson Les Paul Custom is easily one of the most popular models within Gibson’s catalogue. We’re massive fans of burst finishes and love looking at the incredible figured maple tops, but we also love the simplicity of the Les Paul Customs visuals! This Les Paul Custom is a unique Made 2 Measure model which offers a unique take on the 1968 spec Les Paul Custom. As with all guitars purchased through our website or mobile app, this guitar will receive a complementary setup by our team of in-house luthiers. This guitar features a traditional tone wood pairing of a Mahogany body, and a Maple top. As Les Paul Customs traditionally feature all solid finishes this guitar features a plain grain Maple top, which can also be found on ’58 Bursts and Gold top models. One of the most exciting features of this model is the Dark Walnut finish. It’s a really deep, rich colour which looks awesome in the flesh. It’s the sort of finish which still looks traditional, but also eye-catching. The Murphy Lab team have done an incredible job with the ageing on this model. The nitrocellulose finish features some prominent lacquer checking across the whole guitar, some minor dings, and tarnished hardware.
The Mahogany neck features a vintage spec ’68 medium C neck shape, 24.75” scale length, Ebony fingerboard, and mother of pearl block inlays. The whole neck feels comfortable, the ’68 medium C is a great neck shape as it fills your hand, but never feels too big or bulky, it’s a great choice for this model.
Loaded with a pair of ’68-spec custom pickups, this guitar captures that classic late-1960s Gibson tone with ease. Warm, punchy and full of character, they deliver far more than just one sound, staying articulate and musical across a wide range of styles and settings.
