This model captures the essence of the 1959 Les Paul Standard with an Heavy Ageing from the Murphy Lab. The AAA figured maple top, paired with an lightweight mahogany body, showcases a sunburst finish precisely colour-matched to the guitar on page 58 of Beauty of the 'Burst, delivering the exact visual allure that made that specific '59 Burst one of the most coveted guitars in history. The serial 9 0663 which this was based on used to be owned by legendary Joe Perry of Aerosmith, before being bought by none other than Slash.
This 1959 Les Paul Standard features a solid mahogany body with a long-tenon neck joint using hide glue, ensuring optimal resonance and sustain. The mahogany neck, with an authentic 50s rounded medium C profile, is paired with an Indian rosewood fingerboard featuring aged cellulose nitrate trapezoid inlays, a 12" radius, and 22 medium jumbo frets (Jescar nickel-silver) for smooth, vintage-inspired playability. Equipped with a pair of Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups (unpotted, with cream mounting rings), this guitar delivers the dynamic, harmonically rich PAF tone that defined the era - warm, articulate cleans and powerful overdrive - perfect for blues, rock, and beyond. Vintage-style hardware, including an ABR-1 bridge, lightweight stopbar tailpiece, and Kluson Deluxe reissue tuners, all in aged nickel, ensures historical accuracy. This guitar has been professionally set up by our skilled luthiers to ensure it performs flawlessly right out of the box, complete with its Gibson Custom Shop hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.
