Our friends at Gibson Custom are super excited to present this limited Johnny Winter ’64 Firebird V, a painstakingly crafted replica of one of his most iconic instruments.
An undisputed player's favourite, the Gibson Firebird has been a constant in the Gibson roster since the early '60s. The Mahogany/Walnut neck through body with Mahogany wings is finished in a lush Murphy Lab aged Polaris White. The relic work featured is truly astonishing, a true replica of one of the most iconic Firebirds around. It's resonant and nicely balanced too, despite its larger size. The body even features the plugged holes from the removed Maestro Vibrola system which came stock with the guitar originally, it’s the small details that really blow you away.
The Mahogany/Walnut neck benefits from 22 reissue frets, a 24.75" scale length, ‘64 medium C neck profile and a killer Indian Rosewood fingerboard. Super stable and supremely comfortable this is a real player's guitar. Also boasting a standard reverse, banjo tuner equipped headstock, it feels both authentically vintage and modern.
Loaded with a pair of Firebird Alnico V Mini Humbucker pickups, the Johnny Winter ‘64 Firebird V delivers tone by the bucket load. With a really unique sonic character it is versatile, dynamic and offers crystal clear note definition. Thanks to a pair of volume and tone controls you can really sculpt your sound to taste, this guitar even nails the missing reflector on the rhythm tone knob, wow! Equipped with a no-wire ABR-1 bridge and chrome plated Aluminum stop bar tail piece this guitar offers incredible stability.
