First introduced in a square shoulder configuration in 1962, the Country Western was originally created as a variation of Gibson's popular Southern Jumbo model. With its traditional Hummingbird body shape and plain tortoise pickguard, it delivers wonderful tonal quality and a unique look that has been a resounding hit with players from the moment it was first released.
This Country Western 60s Original begins with a Sitka Spruce top that is matched with back and sides which are crafted from solid Mahogany. The Antique Natural finish brings a timeless elegance and showcases the natural beauty of this unsung hero of a model.
The Mahogany neck is super comfortable and great for both bold chordal work and subtle fingerstyle playing. It features a 24.75 scale length alongside a round neck profile, allowing for quick, easy movements. The bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard features a 12 radius, 20 standard frets, 43.815mm nut width, and mother of pearl parallelogram inlays.
With Gotoh white button tuners, and a traditional belly-up bridge design, you can expect great stability and performance. A hardshell case from Gibson is included.
One of the most important features of this guitar is the LR Baggs HiFi DNA pickup, which LR Baggs designed in close collaboration with the Gibson Montana team. This pickup is exclusive to Gibson guitars and is designed to deliver an amplified version of the guitar's natural voice without drastically altering or affecting the guitar's tone. This active system uses two lightweight sensors mounted on the internal bridge plate. The sensors are matched with optimised individual preamps to deliver a full-bodied amplified acoustic tone that lets the guitar's character and personality come through. The system also includes volume and tone controls, which are mounted in the soundhole, so you can quickly adjust your tone if needed.
The Original represents the best of a timeless design - a true classic built on tradition and epic heritage but with a few discreet modern perks which make it ideal for today's gigging musician.
