Dale Wilson is known across the globe as one of Fenders highly revered Masterbuilders, a select group of the worlds most esteemed luthiers. With this Godly status, any guitar with his name attached generates a huge amount of interest, and rightly so. For us here at Peach, Dale Wilson really is the master of ageing guitars. His techniques and skills have been refined over decades, and really do allow for some of the most authentic looking and feeling aged guitars around!
This Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt '63 Strat is a particularly great example of Dales incredible work.
It features a lightweight Alder body, which is finished with a heavily aged Lake Placid Blue over 3-Tone Sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer. Dale really is the master at ageing a finish, he always knows how best to fade certain areas of the guitar, which gives each of his builds a totally unique look and feel. On this guitar, Dale has aged 80% of the top Lake Placid Blue nitrocellulose finish, giving it much more of a green hue. By the arm contour, and the belly carve, youll find the finish retains much more of a traditional Lake Placid Blue hue. This finish really does look the real deal, it looks exactly like an old 60s Strat that was ordered with an original custom colour finish.
The dark tint Plain Grain Maple neck has a smooth finish. With an AAA Rosewood fingerboard, 9.5" radius and 21 narrow tall frets, this '63 Stratocaster can handle anything you throw at it without even breaking a sweat; it's supremely comfortable and well balanced. The 60 style oval C neck profile is extremely comfortable and easy to play. It measures .790" at the 1st fret and .930" at the 12th fret.
With a trio of Josefina Campos hand wound Fender Custom Shop 60s Strat pickups, it delivers all of the incredible tones you would expect from a 60s spec Strat.
Supreme quality from top to bottom and shipped in a Fender Custom Shop hardcase, it's easy to see the Fender Masterbuilders are so highly regarded. Guitars of this calibre just don't come around every day, we love it and we're pretty sure you will too!
