Fender introduces the J Mascis Signature Jazzmaster Pickups, designed to capture the distinct sound of J Mascis, a pioneer of alt/indie rock and the frontman of Dinosaur Jr. These pickups are crafted to deliver the unique tonal qualities that Mascis is known for, appealing to both modern players and vintage tone enthusiasts.

The J Mascis Signature Jazzmaster Pickups are built with Alnico 2 magnets and are wound to Mascis' specific requirements. This results in a warmer tonal palette compared to typical Jazzmaster pickups, making them ideal for both fuzz-heavy sounds and clear, vintage cleans. The Alnico 2 magnets enhance the pickups' response to drive and fuzz pedals, allowing for a versatile range of sounds from smooth overdrive to aggressive distortion.

Additional features include enamel-coated magnet wire, which provides warm, vintage-style tones. The flush-mount polepieces ensure even string response across all strings, while the wax potting helps eliminate unwanted feedback and microphonics. Constructed with vintage-style cloth wire and fibre bobbin, these pickups not only sound great but also maintain an authentic look.
